Fingerprint sensors are becoming an essential on every Android device and are not something only limited to flagship phones, these days.

Like most of the smartphones, the Google Pixel has a lighting quick fingerprint sensor on the back, which makes the user to no longer has to provide a PIN or pattern to unlock their device.

But the users can able to do more things than just using the fingerprint sensor for unlocking their respective device. Those additional features make the sensors worth so much more.

1. Fingerprint to Unlock

Like many smartphones these days, the Pixel and Pixel XL come with a fingerprint scanner, but it’s fast and super reliable.

You can set up your fingerprint during the setup process, but if you skipped over the section in a hurry for some reasons and want to enable it please follow the below steps.

Step 1:- Go to Settings > Security > Pixel Imprint.
Step 2:- If you haven’t done so already, you will first need to set up a lock screen PIN, password or pattern.
Step 3:- Next Tap on Add fingerprint and choose the finger you want to use and touch it against the scanner until it vibrates.
Step 4:- After your fingerprint is successfully recorded you can tap on Done.

Note:- You can also tap Add Another to add an alternative fingerprint.

2. A quick swipe to access your notifications?

You can also use the fingerprint sensor to open the notification shade and quick settings by a quick swipe on it. This feature will be turned off by default and you need to enable it in order to use it.

  • Open Settings > Moves.
  • Then Enable Swipe for notifications.
  • Once enabled, Swipe down across the fingerprint sensor to pull down the notification shade.
  • Swipe down again to show the Quick Settings.
  • Swipe up to close the shade.

3. Buy Apps and Games

The Google Play Store requires the password every time you buy an app or game, which is a good thing but sometimes it can be annoying. Using this feature you can use your fingerprint as a password instead of typing it.

  • Head to Google Play Store app and then select Settings from the slide out navigation drawer.
  • Scroll down and check the box next to Fingerprint authentication.

For your first purchase on the Play Store, it will request your password, but further purchases can be approved simply touch the fingerprint sensor.
