To further power it the industries No. 1 fast charging technology. Qualcomm has announced the fourth generation of its super-fast charging technology “ Quick Charge 4.0 ”. It can give you hours of power with just a few minutes charging.
It set to be included in Snapdragon-powered Android smartphones launching in the first half of 2017. Quick Charge 4 will support USB Type C and USB PD charging methods as well.
What are the smartphones that support Quick Charge 4.0?
The smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 835 chip will be able to support Quick Charge 4.0.
The company claims that Quick Charge 4.0 will provide an unbelievable five hours of battery life from just five minutes of charging (based on a 2,750 mAh battery). It also provides a 20 percent faster charge time than the third generation.
Following the Galaxy Note 7 exploding issue, Qualcomm says that Quick Charge 4.0 has gone through various safety testing, particularly to prevent from overvoltage and overheating protection.
Qualcomm went ahead and added some safety features to both charging adapter and mobile device.
On the adapter front, Qualcomm offers over voltage, over current, and over temperature protections.
On the device side, it provides power regulation inside it, three levels of current and voltage protections and four levels of temperature protection.
Quick Charge 4.0 will also keep your devices temperature cooler by up to 5 degrees Celsius comparing to the previous generation.
Using the Snapdragon-powered devices with a Quick Charge certified power adapter and any USB connector, including Type-C, you can charge the battery of enabled devices up to 4X2 faster than with conventional charging.
