Google put the spotlight on its artificial intelligence and Google Assistant in its Google I/O 2018 conference.
The company announced new consumer features aimed at simplifying the life of the users. We’ve been seeing the AI-driven assistants have taken over phones, speakers and making the stuff easier for the end users.
Google at its I/O keynote event showcased some new highlighting features of Google Assistant. Let’s jump into those new features.
Google Assistant New Features Spotlight:
1. 6 Brand new Voices for Assistant
Google’s debuting six brand new voices to Google assistant one of them being musician John Legend. Yep, you read it right John Legend is going to be a one of the Google assistant’s voice. It’s kind of crazy.
2. Google Assistant soon be able to make calls to book an appointment for users.
In the keynote, Google CEO Sundar Pichai showcase an incredible new feature of Google Assistant.
The Assistant was able to make a call to a hair salon, and have a conversation with the person on the other end as it tried to book an appointment for the user.

Google did say that we won’t see this in full form anytime soon which makes sense it seems really complicated and there’s probably lots of bugs and complications.
3. New “Shush” mode
A new feature for Android devices also shown in the demo. The new “Shush” mode will automatically put the phone to “do not disturb” mode if you flip it face down on a table.
4. “Wind Down” mode
“Wind Down” mode will fade the screen to grey at a designated time to help you disconnect before bed.
