Google has been testing the tab groups that let you better organize your browsing experience. This feature is yet to officially rollout, but it is hidden the Google Chrome.
In this post, we’ll show you the new tab feature inside Google Chrome. This is helpful for you to organize the tabs if you have so many different tabs open like I do all the time.
To use this feature you need to have the most recent update of Google Chrome, so make sure you have that if it’s still not there just hang on. If you are not ready to wait and want to try this feature means use the below trick to enable it.
How to Enable Group Tabs feature on Google Chrome:-
- Once you’re on Google Chrome, copy and paste the below-mentioned URL in your address bar.
chrome://flags/#tab-groups
- By default the default option will be in selected, Now select Enable option in Tab Groups.
- Also, there is Tab Groups Collapse option available, but as of now, this feature doesn’t work.
That’s it done now relaunch your Google Chrome browser to changes take-effect. Now let’s dive into how to use this feature.
How to Use Group Tabs on Google Chrome:-
To create a grouping, right-click on a tab at the top of your screen and select “Add to new group” or “Add to existing group.”
These tab groups are visually organized by color, with each group defaulting to a gray dot at the left. To change the exiting color click the color and select the color you preferred color from the eight colors
Google also lets you name the grouped tab or else you can leave it blank as well.
How to add a new tab into the exiting group tab?
To add a new tab to the exiting group tab you can drag and drop the new tab or simply right-click and click “Add to existing group” then click the group.
Also, you can “Ungroup” tabs from this menu or close everything inside the group in a single click. Other than that there is “Move group to New Window” and “Send Feedback” option available.

Grouping of tabs now saves me a lot of time finding out what I’m looking for, so with this feature I can quickly find things.
I’ve enjoyed this feature inside chrome to organize everything so I can quickly glance at the color groupings of it.
